A FORMAL, INCOMPLETE BIOGRAPHY
Levi Macallister is a spoken word and performance artist, writer, speaker and storyteller. Native to the Land of Enchantment, Levi The Poet began touring in the summer of 2009, and what began as getting his feet wet turned into a deep-sea plunge as he moved out of an apartment and into a van, spending upwards of eight months per year performing in hundreds of venues across the country. More recently, Levi has been invited to perform internationally, and was privileged to participate in New Zealand's Parachute Festival in Auckland last year.
Topically, Levi’s writing is highly autobiographical, and with the help of American Giving Award organizations like To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA), his story has spread worldwide.
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Levi is the son of a man who lived and died in the arms of grace, and a woman who is sustained by it. He is brother to a sister who stole all the good looks. He is husband to a chocolate-eyed angel with a laugh that shines into the deepest shadows of his heart.
In 2013, Levi received his certificate of completion from The Resurgence Training Center, a practical, cohort based theological training program.
In addition to LTP, Levi is on the speaking team for XXXChurch.com, a not-for-profit that seeks to serve and provide awareness, prevention and recovery resources for those working in and/or affected by the pornography industry. Levi The Poet has mastered an experiential performance that engages the hearts and imaginations of his audience. His story is an opportunity to sympathize, a pleading with the lonely to know that they are not alone, a calling out to the broken to know that they are not irreparable. His words are an invitation for others to see themselves in the narrative.
"The point is not that my story is unique or amazing. It isn't. Everyone has lived this story. The point is that I have an amazing Redeemer who has given me mercy in the midst of my depravity. He has given me life in the midst of my death."
